A 15-year-old boy was shot to death late Friday afternoon in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.

The boy was shot several times in the 11400 block of South Stewart Avenue around 5:10 p.m., police said, citing preliminary reports.

Police said the boy was walking when a gray-color Pontiac pulled up and someone inside fired multiple shots.

The boy suffered wounds to the head, chest and abdomen. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No one was in custody. 

About an hour later, a man in his 40s was stabbed in the back in the Jefferson Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.

The man was attacked around 6:35 p.m. in the 6000 block of West Gunnison Street, police said.  He was taken to Lutheran General Hospital but his condition was not available.
