CLEVELAND, Ohio – Tom Hannan, an assistant coach at Garrettsville Garfield, is expected to be the next football coach at Lakewood following the resignation of Mike Ribar after three seasons.

According to a release from Lakewood City Schools, the decision is pending board approval and scheduled for Monday.

Hannan will inherit the Rangers who finished 0-10 last season, 3-27 under the direction of Ribar.

Hannan said in a statement, “It will be an honor and a privilege to be the next head coach of Lakewood High. I will do everything in my power to represent LHS and the community in a positive manner. I will hire a staff that are not only great teachers, but great role models.”

Hannan has coached high school football for 35 years including 16 as head coach at Crestwood. He has also served as an offensive line coach at North Olmsted, head football coach at Ridgedale, and assistant head coach at Cuyahoga Falls.

Lakewood Athletic Director Sean Jackson stated, “Coach Hannan has the experience, time and a plan to move our football program in the right direction. I am extremely excited for our football players!”
