A 5-month-old girl died Friday at her family’s Astoria apartment, authorities said.
Malak Aitouhanni’s parents told police they frantically tried to revive the infant when she apparently fell ill around 3 a.m.
The family said they called 911 but decided not to wait for an ambulance — instead jumping into a cab and rushing their daughter to Astoria General Hospital. She was pronounced dead a short time later, officials said.
The Medical Examiner’s office will determine the official cause of death.
Aitouhanni did not have any apparent signs of trauma on her body, according to police.
The girls parents are being questioned by cops.
