COVINGTON, Kentucky — A man driving on Interstate 75 struck a pedestrian on the highway, then continued driving for about three miles with the body stuck in the windshield before pulling over a gas station, reports say.
Witnesses described a disturbing scene early Thursday morning as the man pulled into a Speedway gas station, walked in and asked the cashier to call police, fox19.com reports.
“I thought it was a prank because there was this body hanging out of the window,” Sigmund Sugarman, 74, tells fox19.com.
Another driver, Shawna Hudson, tells wcpo.com that she followed the car on I-75 after seeing the body dangling from the windshield. She said she also thought someone might be pulling a prank.
“We just happened to get behind him when he had his flashers on and noticed that something was hanging from his car just flapping around, hitting against the ground,” Hudson said. “I said, ‘That can’t be real. That has to be a sick joke.'”
Neither the driver nor the victim have been identified. No charges have been filed, but the incident remains under investigation, reports say.
