Give them shelter, Feb. 1

More noble rhetoric about providing shelters for street people on frigid nights. Star editors are envisioning a social utopia. It’s never going to happen. Those making the most noise should be tackling the issue themselves. Instead, the cry is for others to provide solutions.

Why don’t residents wringing their hands over the homeless take in one of them during terribly cold spells?

If Toronto’s mayor ever wakes up to the reality that the city’s disproportionately low property tax base is a veritable goldmine, and has the gumption to tell homeowners they have to get in sync with the rest of the province, ample funds would be available for the city’s homeless.
