The Round Rock Police Department and Pflugerville Police Department have released sketches and descriptions of two suspects who allegedly tried to lure children and kidnap them last month.

Pflugerville police learned of the first incident on Jan. 4, when an unknown Hispanic man tried to offer a ride to an 11-year-old girl walking home from school in the 17000 block of Tortoise Street.

The suspect is described as being between 50 and 60 years old, average build, with black and gray hair and short facial hair. He may have been wearing transition eyeglasses and a gray shirt, according to a news release.

On Jan. 13, Round Rock police responded to a similar call from a woman who said her juvenile daughter was the victim of a possible kidnapping attempt. A suspect approached the girl as she was walking home from school.

The girl was walking in the 900 block of McNeil Road and the man approached her in a vehicle and grabbed her. She was able to escape him and fled, the news release said.

The suspect is described as being a Hispanic male, between the age of 30 and 40, a medium build with a round stomach, medium complexion, short curly hair, with wrinkles and a goatee. He also has tattoos on his right forearm. There currently is no vehicle description available, according to the news release.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the police in Round Rock or Pflugerville.

Police at both departments want to encourage parents to discuss with their children what to do if approached by strangers. It’s recommended that children say “no” to strangers who offer them a ride somewhere.

“Running away, going to a safe place and telling an adult, is the right thing to do,” the release said. “It’s OK to make noise and draw attention to yourself. If someone is following you in a car, turn around and go the opposite direction or take a path a car cannot go.”
