Upper East Side bakery Sprinkles Cupcakes debuted its Cupcake ATM outside its store on Lexington Avenue between East 60th and 61st streets back in 2014. The machine can dispense 20 varieties of cupcakes, which run $4.50 each, and can hold as many as 760 baked goods, including cookies and even dog treats. Serving guests on the go and after-hours munchers, the ATM is restocked several times a week.
It’s just one of the many specialized vending machines sprouting up around the city. Need gold in a rush? Visit Stack’s Bowers’ gold ATM on West 57th Street, where you can buy a 1-ounce bar for around $1,300. Bike busted? Hit up one of the four Bikestock machines in Manhattan and Brooklyn for new tubes or brake pads.

On a Tuesday afternoon Marina Korotun trekked to Sprinkles to try out the automated bakery, ordering a German chocolate cupcake with caramel frosting, coconut and crushed pecans.
“You can go inside and order the exact same thing,” said Korotun, who took a video for Instagram. “But this way is much more fun.”
