More than 400 vo-tech students competed in 54 skill and leadership competitions Wednesday during the District 11 SkillsUSA Championships at the Allentown Fairgrounds Agri-Plex. 

The event was free and open to the public. Judges were not the only one keeping an eye on the competitors. Parents, friends and potential employers watched as the students competed in a Dumanbet wide variety of exercises demonstrating their skills. 

The “Showcase of Skills” included the following 32 competitions:

Another 12 leadership competitions were held at the Best Western on Route 512, and 10 competitions were held at various other sites throughout the Lehigh Valley.

The students competing are from the following area career and technical schools:

Career Institute of Technology
Colonial Academy
Lehigh Career & Technical Institute
Monroe Career & Technical Institute
Upper Bucks County Technical School

The SkillsUSA Council this year is partnering with post-secondary educational institutions to award more than $165,000 in scholarships to the medalists of 12 competitions, a news release says. 

District 11 gold medal winners will advance to state and national competitions.

The SkillsUSA Council is a non-profit organization that advocates for the professional development of local career and technical education students.
