There was no question Brian Kelly was going to answer.

The Notre Dame coach happily pardoned Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah’s interruption Wednesday while Kelly met with the media on national signing day.

"I need to take this call," Kelly said.

Upon hearing the 6-foot-2, 197-pound safety from Hampton, Va., had chosen the Irish, Kelly immediately shared a story about Owusu-Koramoah’s recruiting visit, during which linebacker Nyles Morgan played host to him.

"When you host somebody, you want them to see Notre Dame and see the social aspects," Kelly said. "These guys didn’t leave the film room. It was like they were joined at the hip for six hours just talking football. That’s the kind of kid he is."

Owusu-Koramoah chose the Irish over Michigan State among others. He is a three-star prospect in 247Sports.com’s composite rankings.

He wasn’t the only player to join the Irish on signing day. They added a pair of defensive ends to complete the nation’s 10th-ranked class at 21 players.

The Irish hit Hawaii to sign three-star end Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, who also had offers from Oregon, USC and Washington among others.

The 6-4, 270-pounder is the son of a pastor and the No. 2-ranked player in Hawaii. He had 18 sacks last season.

"For a big guy, we really think he’s got a huge upside," Kelly said. "We think he’s starting to scratch the surface in terms of where he needs to be."

Notre Dame’s 20th signee was 6-3, 240-pound end Kofi Wardlow, a three-star prospect from Washington, D.C., who had been committed to Maryland.

Kelly said Wardlow reminds him of former Irish player Romeo Okwara, who was a rookie with the Giants this season.

"He’s just a really young, raw, extremely athletic guy, a guy we think we can develop into a really nice edge player for us," Kelly said.
