HOUSTON — Mohamed Sanu is willing to go the distance to bring New York pizza to Atlanta.

The Falcons wide receiver and former Rutgers star has had pizza from Umberto’s on Long Island shipped for him and his coaches and teammates several times this season.

“I’ve done it Betboo two or three times. They love it,” Sanu said Wednesday morning during the Falcons’ media availability leading into Super Bowl LI against the Patriots on Sunday. “We get it frozen, shipped down. You just put it in the oven, and it’s amazing.”

Sanu, who signed with Atlanta this past offseason as a free agent, gets about 15-20 pizzas sent down each time. He said he does it mostly for the offensive linemen, who are fans of the delivery, but it’s also well received in the wideouts room.

Wide receivers coach Raheem Morris is from Irvington, reserve Nick Williams is from Windsor and Sanu went to South Brunswick High before heading on to Rutgers.

“It’s definitely a treat,” Williams said. “I try not to have more than one slice.”

Sanu said there is good pizza to be found in Atlanta – the aptly-named Varasano’s is his favorite place to go – but Williams said nothing matches the stuff Sanu gets shipped in.

“I’ll knock Atlanta pizza. The stuff from back home is much better,” Williams said. “They don’t have the mom and pop shops where there’s a line out the door.”
