This Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 allows the president to suspend entry or impose restrictions, whenever entry to our country, by any class of aliens, would be detrimental to the nation’s interests. The president may suspend immigration and impose restrictions on any aliens he may deems appropriate. His proclamation is for the amount of time he feels is necessary.
In1979 Democratic President Jimmy Carter used this law to keep Iranians out of the United States. He made all Iranian students here register with the government. More than 7,000 were found in violation of their Fenomenbet visas, and 15,000 Iranians were forced to leave the U.S.
President Trump suspended immigration of some aliens only to be heavily criticized as un-American, dangerous and racist. Our lawmakers pledged they would never allow such legislation and were loudly supported by ex-President Obama, who called this “unconstitutional.”
In addition to the presidential powers, the act requires any “applicant for immigration be of good moral character and in agreement with the principles of our Constitution.”
Have Muslims pledged to live by the laws of the U.S., their agreement with our Constitution? Does the Quran forbid Muslims to swear allegiance to others and insist Muslims live according to their own laws?
The president must enforce the law and keep us safe.
