In the end, she was bedeviled by deviled eggs. Kayla Kurtz, a Kent mother of four, got chopped from the Food Network show, “Worst Cooks in America,” on Sunday’s episode. The series is about half way through its goal to isolate the $25,000 grand prize winner.
“I get it,” Kurtz said on the final show. “I sucked.”
True, her deviled eggs were woefully undercooked.
“It was supposed to be deviled eggs,” she told her mentor, chef Anne Burrell, “but now it’s more of a salmonella surprise.”
Actually, Burrell liked the sandwich Kurtz also made for the “game day” episode. But that was only one of the two dishes she was assigned before time management problems got in her way.
Kurtz’ fate on the show reached high drama on the previous episode when the sobbing contestant was one of two cooks eliminated. At the last minute, Burrell hit the “Save” lever, the once-per-season chance she has to Kaçak Bahis bring a cook back.
Burrell’s frustration with Kurtz came to a head in her final episode when Kurtz accidentally put flour in her pickle brine and was clearly not going to have enough time to cook the eggs.
“I saved you once,” Burrell shouted at her. “You gonna make me regret that decision?”
Kurtz walked off the show with optimism, knowing she had made several successful dishes.
“Since I’ve been here, I learned I can’t go back to the microwave and take-out,” she said on camera. “I’m so excited to go home and teach my boys what I learned.”
Kurtz’ final episode airs again at 2 p.m. Saturday Feb. 4; 9 p.m. Sunday Feb. 5 and midnight Monday Feb. 6.
