Gamuda Land’s Redevelopment Plans for 75 London Wall Building Approved
Gamuda Bhd’s property arm, Gamuda Land, has received approval for its redevelopment plans for the 75 London Wall building in the UK. Teaming up with UK-based real estate investors Castleforge Partners, the project is set to transform the former UK headquarters of Deutsche Bank into modern office spaces.
The redevelopment plans, crafted by London-based architects Orms, will boost the building’s capacity by 40% to 688,000 sq ft through a joint venture with Castleforge. The project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2027.
In a recent survey commissioned by Castleforge, more than 1,800 office workers in the UK expressed a readiness to return to the office, with over a third feeling socially isolated while working from home. This sentiment is particularly strong among 18–24-year-olds, with 43% reporting increased social isolation and 59% stating that they are less productive when working remotely.
Gamuda Land aims to create a future-proof and sustainable office space at 75 London Wall, designed to attract and retain top talent for tenant employers. The redevelopment plan emphasizes minimizing carbon emissions, enhancing flexibility, and improving amenities and daylight levels for occupants.
The project will preserve 89% of the existing built fabric, including the lower level facades, while offering energy-efficient, grade A+ accommodation targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’, WELL Core ‘Platinum’, and NABERS UK 5 Star Design for Performance certifications. Additionally, high-quality end-of-journey facilities will promote active travel.
New commercial units on the ground floor, along with a cultural forum space for events and performances, will enhance the building’s appeal to the surrounding area. A new public space called “Priors Garden,” designed by Andy Sturgeon Design, will provide a green oasis for pedestrians and link to Austin Friars through a historic city passageway.
Multiplex has been chosen as the main contractor for the project and will offer buildability advice during the remaining design stages before commencing the main construction contract in the third quarter of 2025.
