MADRID, 7 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Uvesco Group, which operates under the BM Supermercados banner, has reached an agreement to purchase the Super Hiber distribution group, in an operation that includes 31 supermarkets in the Community of Madrid, an ongoing project and a team of, approximately, 800 people, who join the group.
The transaction will be final after the authorization of the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC), as the company announced this Wednesday in a statement.
With this operation, BM will now have 79 supermarkets in the Central area, where it has been located since 2017 after the acquisition of the Gigante chain, and where it also has a logistics platform, located in Arroyomolinos.
The 31 Hiber supermarkets cover an area of approximately 31,000 square meters and are located in locations such as Madrid, Majadahonda, Leganés, Parla, Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Barajas, Cobeña, Tres Cantos, El Molar or Alcalá de Henares.
Hiber will contribute sales of approximately 110 million, which added to those that BM already has in the Central area, will reach 300 million in Madrid, according to group data.
In the words of the president of the Uvesco Group, Jose Ramón Fernández de Barrena, with the aim of continuing to strengthen their model in their areas of interest, they find in Hiber “the opportunity to continue growing and consolidate their presence in the Community of Madrid.”
For his part, the president of Super Hiber, Gabriel Ruiz, has assured that “recent times have led the sector to a situation in which, increasingly, the volume of companies is essential”, which is why Hiber “needs to start a new stage and with the help of BM”, with whom they share a model of closeness and commitment to the environment and quality.
