The closure does not affect either Barcelona or Madrid

BARCELONA, 18 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Glovo will close part of its ‘ghost’ supermarket network, the service known as ‘Super Glovo’, in the cities of Bilbao, Pamplona, Las Palmas, Tenerife, Granada and Alicante and will present an ERE for its workers.

According to ‘El Periódico’ and company sources confirmed to Europa Press this Thursday, the rest of Glovo’s stores and establishments in these cities “will continue to be available as normal.”

The ‘Super Glovo’ centers in Barcelona, Madrid, Zaragoza, Valencia, Seville, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca will continue to operate.

These are logistics centers where the company stores the products that users buy online and where workers collect them to distribute them.

Glovo has made the decision to stop operating in some cities “given the difficult access to capital and investment and after the insufficient evolution of the business volume recorded in recent months.”

In a statement, the UGT union has assured that the company has “cut the salary remuneration” of the rest of Glovo’s workers and has eliminated supplements such as the transport bonus, the holiday work bonus or the clothing bonus.

He has assessed that it is necessary to “build solvent companies that guarantee income and decent conditions for their workers and that do not practice unfair competition based on deregulating the conditions of their workers.”
