The number of new commercial companies increased by 6.4% last November compared to the same month in 2022, reaching a total of 9,272 companies, according to data released this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
With the rebound in November, business creation has had two consecutive months of year-on-year increases, although that of November has moderated almost ten points compared to that registered in October.
For the constitution of the 9,272 companies created last November, just over 571.8 million euros were subscribed, 32.6% less than in the same month of 2022, while the average capital subscribed, which stood at 61,674 euros, decreased by 36.6% year-on-year.
While the creation of companies increased, the dissolution of companies decreased in November, with a decrease of 17.1% compared to the same month in 2022, to a total of 2,201. In this way, every day of the month of November 73 companies closed their doors in Spain.
Of the 2,201 companies that closed last November, 82.8% did so voluntarily, 8.3% due to a merger with other companies and the remaining 8.8% for other reasons.
20.1% of the commercial companies created in the penultimate month of 2023 were dedicated to commerce and 17.4% to real estate, financial and insurance activities.
Regarding companies dissolved by main economic activity, the highest percentages are in commerce (20.5%) and construction (16.8%).
For its part, the number of commercial companies that increased capital decreased by 5.1% last November, to 2,287 companies. The capital subscribed in these increases exceeded 2,473 million euros, a figure that doubles that of November 2022, while the average capital was 1.08 million euros, more than double that of a year before (119.5%).
In the first eleven months of last year, 10.2% more companies were created than in the same period of 2022. For its part, the number of dissolved companies decreased by 3.9% until November, while the companies that expanded capital increased by 3%.
In monthly terms (November 2023 over October of the same year), the incorporation of new companies increased by 11.8%, while dissolutions increased by 16.8%.
MADRID AND CATALONIA LEAD THE CREATION OF BUSINESSES
The communities that created the greatest number of companies last November were Madrid (2,227), Catalonia (1,715) and Andalusia, where 1,690 companies were created. The regions that formed the fewest companies in the penultimate month of last year were La Rioja (48), Cantabria (55) and Navarra (60).
Nine regions created more companies in November 2023 than in the same month of 2022, especially La Rioja (84.6%), Murcia (33%), the Basque Country (16.1%), Castilla-La Mancha (14.2% ), Valencian Community (8.3%) and Madrid (8.2%).
On the other hand, eight communities registered year-on-year decreases, mainly Cantabria, where 15.4% fewer companies were created than in November 2022, and Navarra (-10.4%).
