MADRID, 29 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tourism sector closes a record season, in which occupancy in establishments has exceeded an average of 93% this summer, reaching close to 100% in some destinations, according to data from eBooking.com, which ensures that Spaniards have continued betting mainly this summer to visit national destinations.
In Spain, full occupancy was reached in the months of July and August, with the price of accommodation in our country being 15% higher on average than the previous year. In fact, in some areas and especially with regard to last-minute reservations, prices have become between 20 and 30% more expensive.
In 2023, the average price per night for hotels, hostels, campsites and apartments in Spain has risen to 158 euros, from the 135 euros paid in 2022. This price increase in Spain is due, according to Booking, mainly to increased demand, as well as, to a lesser extent, the context of current high inflation.
According to eBooking data, this summer Spaniards have continued to bet mainly on visiting national destinations. Andalusia –with Malaga and Seville in the lead–, Catalonia –where the city of Salou stands out– and the Valencian Community –with Benidorm as the most requested destination– have been the autonomous communities with the most reservations on eBooking.com this summer. Added to them is the city of Madrid, which has also been among the most demanded cities.
The company has detected a majority commitment to quality tourism, and more decentralized. These are tourists with greater purchasing power, especially foreigners, who are willing to spend more during their vacations, and who are committed to visiting a greater variety of destinations and not just the traditional ‘sun and beach’ ones.
