BRUSSELS, Aug. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The European Commission has recognized this Friday ‘vaca de Extremadura’ as a new geographical indication, which guarantees quality to the consumer and collective rights over the product to all producers in the geographical area.
This meat comes from the main breeds of cattle raised in Extremadura and Brussels recognizes that production is based on an extensive pasture system, which allows high levels of animal welfare to be achieved.
Stress levels during production are much lower and, in general, lactation times are respected, indicates the European Executive, who points out that this provides its own unique characteristics to the product. With this decision, the EU maintains 1650 agricultural and livestock products.
