The average rate at which Spanish entities granted mortgage loans in June reached 4.045%, which is its highest level recorded since February 2009, when it stood at 4.324%, according to data collected by the Bank of Spain.

In this way, the price of the new mortgages signed during the past month remains at the maximum that it already registered during the month of May.

In this way, the average rate of mortgage loans for more than three years for the acquisition of free housing granted by entities in Spain rose for the sixteenth consecutive month, rising by 7.8 basis points compared to the 3.967% observed in May. In June 2022, the median rate on new mortgages was 1.799%.

For its part, the average rate of mortgage loans for between one and five years for the acquisition of free housing granted by credit institutions in the euro area was 3.980% (referring to the previous month), compared to 3.810% a month earlier and 1.860% in the same month of 2022.

In this context, the twelve-month Euribor, the index to which most Spanish mortgages are referenced, closed the month of June at 4.007% compared to 3.862% in May and 0.852% in June 2022.

The Euribor average so far in July is 4.162%, having approached the level of 4.2% for several days.
