Innovation and scientific advances lead this year’s program, which will take place both online and in three physical locations in Spain
CONFESQ, the coalition that represents more than 11,000 patients and 65 organizations, announces the third edition of its Research Conference on Fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and Electrohypersensitivity. This event, which is held online on September 28, October 6, 18, 25 and November 8, aims to deepen the understanding of these diseases and promote Spanish research in these fields.”These conferences are designed for doctors , researchers and other health professionals, with the purpose of exploring these conditions from an updated scientific perspective”, explains María López Matallana, president of CONFESQ. “Our goal is to encourage meetings between professionals and promote Spanish research into these pathologies.” For yet another year, CONFESQ has prepared an interesting program of presentations with top-level national and international professionals, under the coordination of a broad and expert scientific committee . This year, the day is divided into three thematic sections that will be held in Zaragoza, Toledo and Valencia. Each section has a specific program and can be attended separately. To facilitate access for all those interested, the event will also be broadcast via streaming, with registration available through the organization’s website.• In Zaragoza, the section on Fibromyalgia will take place at the University of Zaragoza on the 28th of September with the theme “Non-pharmacological therapies”. The University of Zaragoza, renowned for its research in third-generation therapies applied to fibromyalgia, will host this meeting. Led by Dr. Javier García Campayo, the presentations will be developed by research professors from the Universities of Zaragoza, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Extremadura, and have had the advice of the president of SEFIFAC, the fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome medical society, Dr Antonio Collado. • In Toledo, on October 6, the topics of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and Electrosensitivity will be discussed under the slogan “Widening perspectives”. This event has the participation of Dr. Muñoz Calero, president of the Alborada Foundation and co-holder of the extraordinary chair of Pathology and Environment of the UCM. Two experts from Castilla La Mancha are also participating, Dr. Florentina Villanueva, a researcher attached to INCRECYT (Science and Technology Park of Castilla La Mancha) and Dr. José Molina, specialist in Occupational Medicine. From the University of Granada, Dr. Darío Acuña will present the latest research in electrosensitivity treatments. • Finally, Valencia will host the Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome section on November 8 at the Catholic University of Valencia. The theme of this meeting will be “Subgroup biomarkers”, and will feature Dr. Elisa Oltra, leader in ME/CFS research, who will present, along with Spanish, Canadian and German colleagues, the advances in biomarker research for MS /CFS and persistent covid (with simultaneous translation). In addition, the conference will reserve a space for doctors and researchers to make their communications on the subject. They will be on October 18 and 25 in online format.
