Barcelona, July 17, 2023.

A total of 57 people who have completed the 1st promotion of the interuniversity master’s degree in Hydrogen Technologies have received their diploma at the award ceremony that has taken place simultaneously in the different venues where the program is carried out: Bilbao, Barcelona, Tarragona and Saragossa. In total, last year 75 people took this master’s degree. At the moment, 57 of them have completed their training and the rest will finish it later. The 3rd edition of this program will begin on October 20

The professionals have acquired innovative and cutting-edge knowledge in the field of hydrogen and its associated technologies, placing special emphasis on generation, transport, storage and transformation, as well as the energy market. This wide range of topics has attracted engineers from various specialties (chemicals, energy, materials, environmental, civil, industrial, mechanical, telecommunications, electronics, etc.) to the program and has allowed them to train to open new professional horizons in the field of hydrogen , the new vector that will strategically contribute to the much-needed energy transition. Each student has developed a final project to respond to a challenge posed by a company. The variety of topics covered shows the need for innovation and research so that this potential energy vector becomes a reality. Among the projects developed, for example, the design of a fuel cell for a truck, a project for the generation of H2 through pyrolysis, the design of a new e-fuel plant, 100% hydrogen combustion engines, a system for storage and transport of H2 for domestic use, the generation of hydrogen with a nuclear reactor, an H2 storage system in the industrial field, a design project for the charging station network, a port transformation project for the value chain of H2 or a photoelectrocatalytic hydrogen generation project. The 3rd edition of the master’s degree in Hydrogen Technologies will begin on Friday, October 20. For all those interested, a virtual information session has been organized that will take place on September 6, at 6:30 p.m. The master’s degree will once again be taught in its 4 locations: Bilbao, Barcelona, Tarragona and Zaragoza, and will offer 75 places distributed as follows: 30 in Bilbao, 15 in Barcelona, 15 in Tarragona and 15 in Zaragoza. This master’s degree is promoted and coordinated by 5 state universities: Mondragon Unibertsitatea, the leading university; the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Rovira i Virgili University and the University of Zaragoza. 6 training and research centers also participate: the Somorrostro Integrated Vocational Training Center, the Comte de Rius Institute of Tarragona, the Escola del Treball Institute of Barcelona, the Pirámide Public Integrated Vocational Training Center, the School of Industrial Organization and the Foundation of Aragon Hydrogen and has the support of Repsol-Petronor. This unprecedented collaboration of leading entities from the industrial, university and professional training world seeks to balance engineering profiles trained at the university and those coming from professional training, thus accelerating the effective development of hydrogen in industry. The objective of the program is to offer the necessary skills to develop, manage and lead hydrogen technologies and their applications in industry, a specialty aligned with European decarbonisation strategies. Its practical orientation is one of the central axes, since the students will carry out regular practices with simulation packages, technical visits to companies, as well as mandatory and face-to-face practices in the laboratory to test the concepts and tools analyzed.
