Social Security allocated in the month of June the record amount of 11,997.2 million euros to pay the ordinary monthly payroll of contributory pensions, 10.7% more than in the same month of 2022, as well as another 11,694.9 million euros to the extraordinary pay of June, a figure 11% higher than that of 2022, as reported on Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.

The Department headed by José Luis Escrivá estimates that pension spending stood at 11.7% of GDP in the last twelve months, the same percentage as in 2022, but lower than in 2020 (12.4% of GDP). year conditioned by the impact of the pandemic on GDP, and also that of 2021 (12.1% of GDP).

In June of this year, 10,040,732 contributory pensions were paid, 1% more than a year ago. The extra pay is received by 10,019,750 pensions, with an average amount of 1,167.2 euros, 9.9% more than a year ago.

This extra payment is paid to all pensions, except those derived from accidents at work and professional illness, in 12 payments, since the extras are prorated in the ordinary monthly payments.

After the rise in pensions with the CPI applied since the beginning of the year, the average retirement pension increased by 9.6% year-on-year in June, up to 1,374.9 euros per month.

For its part, the system’s average pension, which includes the different types of pension (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and in favor of relatives), also increased by 9.6% year-on-year, to stand on June 1 of this year. year at 1,194.9 euros per month.
