Siemens will manufacture another 17 trains of this order for 600 million euros

Talgo has signed a second order with the German railway operator Deutsche Bahn to manufacture 56 model 230 Talgo trains, for an approximate value of 1,400 million euros.

This new order is part of the framework contract signed in 2019 between both companies for the manufacture of up to 100 trains, as reported by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) on Wednesday.

Specifically, Talgo and Deutsche Bahn signed a framework contract in February 2019 for the manufacture of up to 100 Talgo model 230 trains, the High Speed train, a self-propelled vehicle with the capacity to travel at a speed of up to 230 kilometers per hour.

In this framework contract, a first order was initially signed to manufacture 23 trains, so this second order is consolidated as a continuation of the series to increase the range from the initial 23 trains to a total of 79 units.

The Talgo 230 trains, known by Deutsche Bahn as ‘ICE L’, will have the same configuration as those corresponding to the first order, and will maintain their commitment to sustainability and energy savings.

Talgo has explained that the execution of the project will begin once the financing structure is agreed.

After learning this news, Talgo shares rebounded more than 8% on the stock market, exceeding 3.3 euros at 11:00 a.m.

ORDER FOR SIEMENS

Deutsche Bahn has also reported that part of this macro-order, the second largest in its history for high-speed trains, will be executed by the German Siemens, although in this case there will be 17 units for 600 million euros.

The Siemens mobility subsidiary will manufacture ‘ICE 3 neo’ units, which are expected to be delivered by the year 2030. This order will contribute to lowering the average age of ‘ICE’ and ‘Intercity’ trains from the current 18 years to 12 for that year.

Thus, passengers will benefit from the novelties of these trains, which include holders for tablets and plugs in all seats and reservation screens with colored LED lights that provide information on reserved and free seats.
