According to a study carried out by the consultancy specialized in software solutions Capterra, teleworking is not yet widely extended in small and medium-sized Spanish companies. Only 6% of respondents have answered that they currently work exclusively from home
The study has also found that 63% of those surveyed work in the office, while 31% do so in a hybrid model, combining work from home and the office. However, what is most notable is that 76% of employees who only work in the office would like to have the option of teleworking. Capterra’s analysis is based on a survey of workers from small and medium-sized Spanish companies to find out their situation regarding teleworking. Through the study, it has been possible to determine that there is a great demand for teleworking in the labor market, and that this opportunity is highly valued by workers who currently do not have the option of doing so. Saving time and money is the main benefit The top reasons surveyed employees who don’t work from home want to do so are to save time and money, work-life balance, and to be more relaxed. But, are these expectations met for those who do have the option of teleworking? The conclusions drawn from the study reveal that 68% of those surveyed in this segment do save time and money by working remotely, and that is, in this way, they do not have to travel to go to their workplace. Likewise, 58% consider that they obtain a better balance between personal and professional life, while 56% receive a positive impact on their well-being and mental health. Loneliness, the main disadvantage of teleworking in Madrid Regarding the disadvantages of remote work, what is the opinion of Spanish employees who work from home or in a hybrid model? When looking at the results by region, the Capterra study has revealed that for employees who telework or work hybridly in Madrid, the main drawback is loneliness (46%). Secondly, there is the difficulty in separating work from personal life (40%) and, thirdly, the lack of resources at home that are available in the office (36%). Barcelona: the lack of resources in Home is the big inconvenience When making a comparison, it can be seen that the first inconvenience for employees who work from home or hybridize in Barcelona is the lack of resources they can find in their workplace (39%). This response is followed by the difficulty of separating work from personal life (38%), and isolation and loneliness (35%). Regarding the rest of Spain, the main drawback is the difficulty of communication and collaboration with team members (37%).
