MADRID, 28 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.6% in April in relation to the previous month and raised its interannual rate by eight tenths, up to 4.1%, thus returning to the ascents after the drop of more than two points that it experienced in March, according to advanced data published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Statistics have attributed the higher price growth in April to the increase in fuel prices and the fact that electricity prices fell less in April of this year than in the same month of 2022.

Conversely, the INE points out that food prices, which have been growing at double-digit rates for months, increased in April of this year less than they did a year earlier.

The INE includes an estimate of subjacent inflation (excluding unprocessed food and energy products) in the CPI data preview, which fell nine tenths in April to 6.6%.
