Presented the MXGP Spanish Grand Prix at the best moment of Spanish motocross in its history

Madrid, April 25, 2023.- This morning the Motocross Spanish Grand Prix was presented in intu Xanadú (Arroyomolinos). For the fourth consecutive year, the World Championship returns to intu Xanadú and it does so at the best possible time for Spanish motocross, with its riders at the top of the table.

The act was attended by the Deputy Minister of Sports of the Community of Madrid, Alberto Tomé, the mayoress of Arroyomolinos, Ana Millán, the general director of Lastlap and the event, Diego Muñoz, the manager of intu Xanadú, Alexis Martín, and the pilots Daniela Guillén and Gabriela Seisdedos, as well as the pilot Jorge Prado, who has entered into a live connection.

The first to speak was Diego Muñoz, General Director of the Grand Prix, who wanted to thank everyone present for their collaboration so that this test can be held in Arroyomolinos. “This year is historic. We have never had a driver leading the premier class. Jorge Prado is the leader from the start and Rubén Fernández is among the top five. He makes you dream of a race with the Spanish in front. In the women’s category, Daniela Guillén is just one point behind the lead, and she will go all out to recover the red plate”, she stressed to value the good moment of national motocross. Regarding the circuit for this edition, he wanted to point out that “there are changes to make it faster and more visible, so that the public can enjoy it 100%.” As for the sports part, there will also be news. “This year the World Cup has scoring qualifying rounds, which makes Saturday’s competition more valuable. The grills will be full ”, he has finished.

Alexis Martín, manager of intu Xanadú, has been proud to continue to be linked to this Grand Prix. “Already in 2020 we were lucky to have this test, fulfilling what was a dream for many. It is an honor to be part of this project and to contribute to making the Spanish Grand Prix one of the best in the World Championship. In addition, this year we have set up a parking lot for motorhomes on our premises, with the novelty that those who come by motorcycle will be able to park next to the circuit”, he wanted to point out.

The pilots Daniela Guillén and Gabriela Seisdedos attended on behalf of all those who will participate in the World Cup. Gabriela, a resident of Arroyomolinos, is recovering from an injury, but she is clear that she will not miss this race. “Running at home is a different kind of nerves. The desire to do well in front of the people who will know you in front of your whole life. In this case, the pressure is on us. Nothing is going to stop me from going out and being 100%. As for the team, Daniela is at an important point, complicated for all of us who are with her. As a teammate, it’s important to me to help her get where she wants to go, ”she finished with a smile.

Daniela is only one point away from first place, having started the World Cup as the leader of the championship. “Whenever I go out, I give my 100%. I aspire to win. This year the result of the effort is being seen. Let’s go all out in Madrid. Starting the season with the red plate has been incredible. It is what you dream of every day and achieving it was spectacular. They have taken it from us in Switzerland, but we are at one point. I am sure that in Madrid we will be able to recover it and climb to the top of the podium”.

The mayoress of Arroyomolinos, Ana Millán, has been a great support throughout these four years. “One more year, see you in Arroyomolinos to celebrate the good moment that Spanish motocross is going through. Almost 10,000 people enjoyed it in 2022, and we hope to continue that path in 2023 as well. The continued effort to promote and support the sport has led us to be on the international scene. Thank you, Gabriela, for making your successes everyone’s ”, she concluded.

Finally, the Deputy Minister of the Community, Alberto Tomé, intervened. “From the Community of Madrid, we are once again committed to this great prize, which is here to stay, thanks to the success achieved in each edition. Success that has been possible thanks to all those who collaborate to make it possible. Thanks to this championship, we managed to promote a discipline that is deeply rooted in our country, such as motorcycling. It is a pleasure to have Spanish pilots leading our country to the top”, he pointed out during his speech.

The event was closed by the MXGP leader, Galician Jorge Prado, who took a break from his training to connect with the presentation. “It is clear that we dreamed of winning in Spain, we were able to do it in 2020 and we want to repeat it in front of the fans. What better way than to do it as the leader of the Championship. We have started 2023 in an incredible way and we hope to stay at the top. We are much stronger than ever. We want not only the double victory, but also to win the test on Saturday and do a triplet. With the help of the public, I am sure that it will be possible ”, he declared in relation to his aspirations for Spain.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the test has been held in Madrid. On the 6th and 7th of May, the stands of the Madrid circuit will roar again, shouting the names of the Spanish riders louder than ever.

This event will have an economic impact in the area of ​​several million euros, will welcome more than ten thousand people and will have more than 400 workers in the organization of the test. The international circuit of the Community of Madrid has been redesigned on this occasion to facilitate full visibility from both the stands and the pelouse. Likewise, the gastronomic offer has been reinforced through food trucks. Sessions by a DJ have been scheduled, there will be a test circuit for the little ones to make the weekend a whole festival around the sport of motocross.
