According to Aon’s Global Well-being Survey, companies are increasingly prioritizing employee well-being
Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, has released the 2022-2023 Global Wellbeing Survey, which, among other key findings, shows that improving employee wellbeing factors can improve the performance of companies by at least 11% and up to 55%. There is a relationship between well-being and a sustainable working life, which can have an impact on the company’s results. The higher a company scores on overall employee wellness, wellness culture and climate, wellness initiative performance, and wellness investment, the better its ratios for workforce resilience, agility, and sense of belonging, which make up a sustainable work life. Aon has surveyed more than 1,100 companies and found that organizations are increasingly prioritizing wellness programs, both in recognizing the problem and in taking action and setting improvement goals . Nearly two-thirds of respondents said wellbeing is more important to their organization since 2020, and just under half indicated that employee wellbeing has increased in priority in that same time period. 87% of respondents companies have implemented at least one wellness initiative, a percentage that remains stable compared to 2020. However, 83% reported having a wellness strategy, compared to 55% in the 2020 report. Wellbeing is a key component of an organization’s people strategy. The wellness framework, integrated as a people and performance approach, balances the appropriate resources, opportunities, and commitment necessary to achieve optimal health, resilience, and sustainability for the individual, team, leadership, organization, and community. “Despite businesses facing increasing volatility and uncertainty in the form of inflation, a global pandemic, shifting workforce patterns, and geopolitical conflict, the latest Global Well-Being Survey shows employers remain focused on well-being now more than ever,” says Gonzalo MartÃnez Coco, director of Corporate Well-being at Aon Spain. “Companies are building resilient workforces by increasing their commitment to employee wellness in both support and financial investment, which also helps attract and retain talent. Wellness is far from a niche topic: wellness programs that are designed to address the diverse needs of employees can have far-reaching impacts on an organization.” Aon has conducted the survey of HR and benefits leaders from more than 1,100 companies from 46 countries and multiple industries in collaboration with IPSOS, a leading global market research company, between August and November 2022.
