First residences for the elderly in the Region of Murcia to obtain the AICP certification
The Residences of the Sumavida Group, Montepinar and Montecantalar, have managed to be the first centers in the Region of Murcia to receive the certification of Person-Centered Comprehensive Care (AICP) by the Pilares Foundation for personal autonomy. The Pilares Foundation is a private, non-profit, state-wide organization oriented by values and recognized as a national benchmark in Person-Centered Comprehensive Care. This distinction is granted to centers that manage to implement this model as part of the operation of their organization and that they transition from care-giving approaches to approaches where the user becomes the protagonist of his own life with full decision-making capacity. A new model of residences Comprehensive care centered on the person seeks to ensure a set of supports and of quality care adjusted to the needs and desires of people, with full respect for their d dignity and the effective exercise of their rights, to favor the development of their own projects and personal goals and thus achieve valuable and meaningful lives. One of the objectives that is intended with the implementation of this model is to deepen the human knowledge of the user, which is why both centers have carried out arduous research work aimed at obtaining information about the life histories of each one of them, which favors the preparation of care plans and individualized care agreed upon with the users themselves. residents, thus becoming protagonists of their own lives and expanding their decision-making capacity to all those areas that have to do with aspects that affect them in their day-to-day life and in their life in the center. In the same way, with the creation of coexistence units, the resident becomes an active agent of his own change, having the freedom to incorporate elements decorations that help you feel at home, or that change the traumatic perception of being admitted to a residential center to moving home. Results obtained After the implementation of the program, a notable improvement in the quality of life of residents has been observed highlighting the positive aspects that it has had on their physical, psychological health or in their way of interacting socially In the same way, the team of professionals that works with them now also states that they have the feeling that users are capable of deciding how their personal care and daily routines should be, that they participate in the design and updating of their care plans or that care at the end of life is provided according to the wishes of the residents. Through the care and life plans, 804 different types of objectives have been proposed to be achieved with the residents, among which are gastronomic desires, excursions and outings, significant activities or unique and personal desires for each resident, with the current degree of compliance with them, in just 6 months of implementation, of 54%, having managed to achieve 436 objectives.Certification delivery ceremony The past On March 15, the ceremony of delivery of the certification that accredits the work of both residences took place under the focus of attention centered on the person on behalf of the PILARES FOUNDATION FOR PERSONAL AUTONOMY, which was attended by the Minister of Social Policy, Families and Equality, Concepción Ruiz Caballero and the President of said organization Pilar Rodríguez Rodriguez. The directors of both residences, Miguel Cuenca Bernabeu and Ana Belén Bermúdez García, collected the certification. Montepinar and Montecantalar Residences The Montepinar and Montecantalar residences, belonging to the Sumavida Group, are located in the urbanizations that bear the same name, located just 8 kilometers from the center of Murcia. The first has 127 beds for the elderly and the second, with a capacity of 103 beds, specializes in psychogeriatrics and mental health.
