BEIJING, March 10, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The award ceremony of the world poetry and prose competition was held on March 2 in Guoyang county of Bozhou city, Anhui province, east of China, birthplace of the Chinese sage Laozi.
Laozi, who was born in 571 B.C. C., is one of the most outstanding Chinese philosophers, thinkers, writers and historians of antiquity. He is the founder of Taoism and author of the Tao Te Ching.
As part of a series of commemorative events for Laozi, marking his 2,594th birth anniversary, the event included sections such as award ceremony, art performance, forum and excursion.
Zheng Qin, an official from the Guoyang county government, explained during the award ceremony that more poets, writers and friends are welcome to come to Guoyang and show the beauty of Guoyang’s nature, history and people through works. .

A total of more than 6,000 poems and more than 300 prose had been submitted to the contest. After rounds of evaluation by professional judges, 28 works were awarded in each category.
This competition has set a good example of Guoyang’s exploration of Laozi culture, accelerating the development of Laozi culture, expanding the brand awareness of Laozi culture, and enhancing Guoyang’s cultural soft power, said Chen Xianfa, a famous Chinese poet.
