The hot temperatures and the rain of the last few days have played spoilsports in Estrie where many families have not been able to enjoy winter activities as usual.
At the André-Nadeau outdoor base, we will have to wait for a new snowfall to redo the trails, but also to resume almost all the work of preparing the sliding surfaces in order to once again enjoy the tube slides and the skating rink.
In Sherbrooke, of the thirty or so outdoor rinks normally available, only one is open: the Bleu Blanc Bouge, whose ice is refrigerated. All other rinks in the city are on asphalt or gravel.
Many parents and children took advantage of the infrastructure, as well as free skating time in the arenas.
Easier for skiing
The ski resorts in the region are also holding their breath, although for the most part, the first week of the holiday season, the traffic and the conditions were there.
All the speakers agree that before the upheavals of Mother Nature, tourists and Quebecers were numerous on the slopes and that the real assessment will take place at the end of the season.
