Renfe expects to increase between 3% and 4% the sales of train tickets in the main corridors with the Doco platform

MADRID, 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government has confirmed that the new commuter and medium-distance trains purchased within the framework of the fleet renewal plan launched in 2019 provide for the incorporation of spaces and anchorages for the transport of bicycles on board.

In a response registered in Congress, to which Europa Press has had access, the Executive explains that the possibilities of making modifications to the interior design of current trains to facilitate the installation of anchorages or spaces for bicycles are being evaluated.

All of this is part of a scenario in which, according to the Government, improvements and adaptations are being made to current rolling stock, both commuter and medium distance. An example of this, according to the Executive, is that in recent months a bicycle area has been provided for the Metric Gauge trains that operate in Asturias and Cantabria. Likewise, in the suburban Civia series units there is also an area for bicycles.

The Government has also reported that Renfe is promoting the visibility of sustainable mobility content and train/bicycle intermodality in the different company supports, such as the website, apps or station posters, among others.

Among these platforms, the coalition government has especially highlighted the comprehensive mobility platform called Doco, with which it expects to attract a minimum of 650,000 new customers to the train, increasing train ticket sales by between 3% and 4%. in the main corridors.

The release date of this platform to the public is scheduled for “the next few weeks” and it will open both on the IOS and Android platforms, starting its operation with an initial version that will include different transport services, as well as planning information with all the services available.
