– iST, the first laboratory in Asia to join the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) as an associate member
TAIPEI, Nov. 14, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Integrated Service Technology Inc. (iST) today announced that, after undergoing multiple and tedious reviews, the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) – the global automotive electronics qualification association highest level automobile – has just officially recognized iST as one of its associate members. There are only 93 companies in the world, 9 of them from Taiwan, that have become members of the AEC. These 9 Taiwanese firms include foundries TSMC and UMC, and iST has the honor of being the only lab in Asia recognized as part of this elite international team.
AEC is an organization created by Chrysler, Ford Motor and General Motors in 1990 with the purpose of establishing and standardizing part reliability testing methodologies and quality system standards in the automotive industry. If any relevant manufacturer wants to join the automotive electronics supply chain, they must first obtain “entry permission” by executing the automobile qualification specifications set by AEC, such as AEC-Q100, AEC-Q101, AEC – Q102, AEC-Q104, AEC-Q200 and other AEC-Q standards.
There are only 93 qualified AEC members in the world and all of them are distinguished companies in their respective automotive fields. Among them are the world’s top 10 Tier 1 suppliers, such as APTIV, BOSCH, CONTINENTAL, DENSO, MAGNA, ZF; top 10 Tier 2 automotive chip vendors such as INFINEON, INTEL, NVIDIA, NXP, QUALCOMM, STM, TI; Tier 3 providers (i.e. Tier 2 service providers), such as TSMC, UMC, GF, AMKOR. As an impartial third-party laboratory certified to ISO-17025 (Laboratory Quality System), iST is honored to receive AEC’s Membership Acceptance Letter to become its only Associate Member that comes well-equipped with quality testing laboratories. complete checks to serve the mission objective of the AEC Components Technical Committee.
iST is the pioneer of electronic vehicle verification. It began deploying its readiness in the field of electronic automotive verification as early as 2008. For example, it created a joint venture known as DEKRA-iST in 2015 with the world’s largest automotive safety testing and identification partner, DEKRA. In 2020, it joined the MIH (Mobility In Harmony) Open EV Alliance and, for a decade, has successfully helped up to 70% of semiconductor manufacturers enter the automotive electronics market. Now in 2022, having laid the foundations in the automotive electronics market over the years, iST has finally passed the stringent AEC reviews and is proud to be a member.
