The Ibex 35 traded with a rise of 0.32% in the mid-session, which led it to remain at 7,987.9 integers, on a day marked by the holding of mid-term elections in the United States (or ‘midterm ‘), where the House of Representatives and just over a third of the Senate will be renewed.
The polls indicate that in the House of Representatives, where all 435 seats are at stake, the Republicans have it easier, since they would take 216 seats, just two away from gaining control of the chamber, while the Democrats would win 199. seats.
A total of 20 seats remain to be decided. Practically all the polls show the Republicans as favorites to wrest control of the Lower House from their Democratic rivals.
However, investors also have this Thursday, November 10, marked on their calendar, when the CPI data for October in the United States will be released. This is one of the main metrics that the Federal Reserve (Fed) uses to design its monetary policy and interest rate path.
In Spain, the Public Treasury has placed 4,333.6 million euros on Tuesday in an auction of 6 and 12-month bills, within the expected range, and has done so by paying the highest interest rates in the last decade, according to data published by the Bank of Spain.
Investors continue to show interest in Spanish debt securities, although on this occasion the joint demand for both references (7,768.6 million euros) has not exceeded twice what was finally awarded in the markets, as it did in the previous auction of this type of paper, held on October 4.
In the middle session, the ‘bullish’ value was Endesa, which was revalued around 2.86% after presenting its results for the third quarter today. Until September, the company had obtained a net profit of 1,651 million euros, 13% more compared to the same period last year, driven by the extraordinary items from the partial sale of its electric mobility business to its parent Enel, the company reported. .
Following Endesa were Rovi (2.59%), Telefónica (1.85%), Red Eléctrica (1.60%), Enagás (1.23%), Sabadell (1.14%), Indra (1, 07%), Fluidra (0.88%), Inditex (0.85%) and Meliá (0.75%). On the other hand, the biggest falls were recorded by Grifols (-1.92%), Acciona (-0.99%), Acerinox (-0.96%), Repsol (-0.84%), CaixaBank (-0 .66%) and PharmaMar (-0.51%).
The rest of the European stock markets traded with a mixed behavior, with falls of 0.22% and 0.16% in London and Paris respectively, but with an increase of 0.29% in Frankfurt and 0.20% in Milan.
Likewise, the price of a barrel of Brent quality oil, a reference for the Old Continent, stood this Tuesday at a price of 96.93 dollars, with a decrease of 1.01%, while Texas stood at 90, 59 dollars, with a drop of 1.31%.
Finally, the price of the euro against the dollar stood at 0.9996 ‘greenbacks’, while the Spanish risk premium stood at 104 basis points, with the interest required on the ten-year bond at 3.368%.
