BANGKOK, Oct. 28, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — At the Global Mobile Broadband Forum 2022 (MBBF2022), Yang Chaobin, President of Huawei ICT Products
5G has been on the market for three years. It has developed rapidly in terms of network coverage, devices, and user scale. 5G offers consumers a more HD and immersive digital experience and has accelerated digital transformation in all sectors. It has improved the way people work and the productive efficiency of industries. As for the construction of 5G networks, operators focused on the development of TDD and mmWave during the initial phase, but recently TDD FDD convergence has been the choice of most operators.
In the future, all connections and services will evolve to 5G, and so will all bands. Huawei has developed the One 5G concept and solutions to maximize the capabilities of all bands and facilitate in-depth coordination between bands, laying the foundation for building efficient and cost-effective 5G networks.
MetaAAU with ELAA improves TDD uplink and downlink coverage and reduces power consumption
The combination of high TDD bandwidth and Massive MIMO has enabled the 5G generation experience. Providing better coverage and higher capacity with lower power consumption is important, which has inspired a number of new TDD Massive MIMO solutions.
Huawei’s MetaAAU takes performance and power efficiency to new levels by leveraging extremely large antenna (ELAA) technology as well as innovative hardware and software coordination. MetaAAU has been deployed at scale around the world. It has been shown to improve uplink and downlink coverage and user experience while consuming less power.
Higher bandwidth products will be essential for operators to meet the needs of the new band allocation and simplify the deployment of ultra-wide bandwidth. Huawei’s new 800 MHz MetaAAU supports current deployment in C-band and enables simplified deployment in future new spectrum.
For scenarios with limited space for antenna installation, Huawei provides Meta BladeAAU, which combines Meta and Blade technologies in a unique way, to enable easy deployment of MetaAAU and all sub-3GHz bands on a single pole, thus it is ideal for single-antenna scenarios.
Ultra-wideband and multi-antenna technologies simplify deployment with fragmented FDD spectrum and improve spectral efficiency
Legacy FDD bands will continue to evolve towards 5G. This process can face the challenges of fragmented narrowband spectrum and the coexistence of multi-RATs.
Huawei has upgraded its series of ultra-wideband and multi-antenna solutions to help operators simplify deployment, improve spectral efficiency, and provide a high-level user experience for all RATs.
Huawei Ultra-Wideband 4T4R RRU supports simplified deployment of multi-band networks in 700-900 MHz or 1.8-2.6/1.4 GHz, and millisecond-level power sharing across all carriers, bands, and RATs , which reduces power consumption while ensuring GU coverage.
Another Huawei product, 8T8R ultra-wideband RRU can increase the capacity of 4G and 5G networks by 1.5 and 3 times, respectively. Together with the Hertz platform antenna, which has built-in Signal Direct Injection Feed (SDIF) technology, the 8T8R RRU is able to reduce power consumption.
For scenarios requiring large capacity, Huawei provides FDD Massive MIMO AAU, which can increase the capacity of 4G and 5G networks by 3 and 5 times, respectively, improving the performance of 4G and 5G. This product has been commercially deployed at scale in more than 70 networks around the world.
For single-pole scenarios, Huawei offers the FDD BladeAAU solution, which is the industry’s first to combine FDD Massive MIMO AAU and sub-3GHz passive antennas. It enables easy single-pole deployment.
LampSite and RuralLink solutions enable ubiquitous 5G
Considering that 70% of wireless network traffic comes from indoor scenarios, Huawei has developed the LampSite 5.0 solution that features the multi-band and multi-RAT combination of TDD FDD. Thanks to a highly integrated design, LampSite 5.0 reduces hardware weight and bulk, as well as power consumption. Additionally, mmWave is introduced for the LampSite solution to deliver indoor 10Gbps capacity based on ultra-wide bandwidth and distributed architecture.
Huawei has also launched the RuralLink solution, designed for remote areas. With this solution, a single RRU and one antenna is enough to provide rural coverage to three sectors, and microwave fronthaul can save on-site BBU deployment. The distance between the RuralLink site and the host site is up to 20 km. With a simplified design and ultra-low power consumption, only 6 solar panels are enough to power a single site, and remote operation and maintenance is supported.
Innovative mmWave solution enables commercial deployment of millimeter wave in outdoor access points and indoor scenarios
Millimeter wave spectrum resources are abundant and more than 140 operators have gained access to high bandwidth spectrum. Outdoor hotspots and indoor environments are typical mmWave application scenarios.
In outdoor hotspot scenarios, Huawei’s mmWave solution uses iBeam and an intelligent high-low band coordination algorithm to achieve precise beam alignment and fast tracking. Performance on continuous networks reveals that a continuous high user-perceived rate can be delivered in moving vehicles and in indoor environments along streets.
Within indoor scenarios, Huawei’s LampSite 5.0, which supports 800 MHz of mmWave, C-band and 1.8 GHz band, works with distributed architecture, providing ultra-large capacity of more than 10 Gbps. These new capabilities will also make indoor connections seamless, while unlocking the full potential of mmWave.
IntelligentRAN powers smart 5G networks
As all bands evolve towards 5G, smart networks are necessary to support diversified service requirements, improve the efficiency of O
The combination of One 5G solutions for all bands and IntelligentRAN unlocks the full potential of all bands, including TDD, FDD and mmWave, and makes it easy to coordinate all bands to improve network performance and reduce power consumption , following the principle: the bands work as one and the networks work as one.
“This is the best of times,” Yang concluded. “5G is entering a new era. Let’s continue 5G innovation with the aim of fulfilling the vision of reshaping the world with 5G, and take steps towards the intelligent world.”
The Global Mobile Broadband Forum 2022 is organized by Huawei, together with its industry partners GSMA and GTI.
