Online video giant YouTube announced on Thursday that it will now certify accounts of doctors and other caregivers to promote reliable health videos, a way to limit misinformation on these topics.

The change should allow users to immediately recognize quality videos on health issues, said the subsidiary of Alphabet (Google).
It should also help users “find and interact with content” from caregivers on the platform, Garth Graham, a YouTube manager, wrote in a blog post.
The certification process, which will include verification of diplomas, will also be open to mental health professionals and institutions.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of false or misleading information about the disease and vaccines has been spread on the internet.
