Evoking solar sparkles with a multicolor laminated bezel with phosphorescent particles

TOKYO, Oct. 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of two new additions to the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches. In the run-up to G-SHOCK’s 40th anniversary in April 2023, Casio wants to connect with each and every G-SHOCK fan through various activities, including commemorative model releases and celebration of special events in various parts of the world. Casio kicks off with the MTG-B3000FR and GWG-2040FR, two Flare Red anniversary models sporting the G-SHOCK trademark red color in an intensely fiery sun flare design.

G-SHOCK started with a single-page plan to build a watch that wouldn’t break, even if dropped. He debuted in 1983 with a shock-resistant construction that overturned conventional wisdom about the fragility of wristwatches.

The 40th Anniversary Flare Red models, the MTG-B3000FR and GWG-2040FR, feature multi-color laminated bezels made from phosphorescent materials in G-SHOCK’s trademark red color. The design evokes solar flares, massive eruptions of intense energy from the sun’s surface. Casio used a newly developed technique to laminate sheets of carbon fiber and colored glass and carve them into a bevel shape. The phosphorescent particles mixed into the fiberglass sheets create powerful designs that look amazing even in the dark. Each watch’s bezel has a unique look, as the materials present a unique look depending on which part of the lamination the bezel is carved from.

For the GWG-2040FR, phosphorescent particles are also mixed into the forged carbon of the lugs that connect the case to the strap to create random patterns of wonderful glow-in-the-dark beauty.

The logo commemorating the 40th anniversary of G-SHOCK, designed by world-renowned graffiti artist Eric Haze, is engraved on the case back. These watches also feature four stars to signify “40,” an extra special touch for the first wave of models commemorating 40 years of G-SHOCK innovation.
