The vigilance of a citizen enabled the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG), on July 22, to precede the arrest of a repeat drink-driving offender who was driving with a blood alcohol level almost four times the legal limit.
On July 22 around 10 p.m., a call was made to the SPVG Emergency Center concerning a vehicle exhibiting erratic driving.
The directions given by the citizen enabled the police to intercept the vehicle, while it was parked in the parking lot of a business located on Pink Road in the Aylmer sector.
The driver, a 37-year-old man, was showing clear signs of alcohol intoxication when officers interviewed him.
The police then arrested him.
Breathalyzer results showed nearly 320mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, which is almost four times the legal limit. The driver was on his second offense in ten years .
His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was seized. The man was released on a promise to appear.
Impaired driving charges will be submitted to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (PDCP).
