A 21-year-old man in a stolen vehicle was arrested in Sherbrooke overnight and will appear before the judge on Thursday.

The Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) was notified by the Sûreté du Québec in the Coaticook sector about a Mazda CX-5 vehicle reported stolen since June 12, which escaped an interception.

SPS patrol officers quickly located the suspect vehicle around midnight in a parking lot near the Beauvoir sanctuary.

The driver of the SUV, who was driving alone, was arrested by the police who also found a pellet gun in the glove compartment.

The suspect known to the police is being held in custody pending trial on charges of dangerous driving, receiving stolen goods and breach of bail conditions.
