Louise Forestier, Léa Pool and René Simard received their insignia of knights and knights of the National Order of Quebec on Wednesday at the National Assembly, while Pierre Karl Péladeau was crowned an officer.
In all, 32 personalities, 11 women and 21 men, were decorated in Parliament on the stroke of 2 p.m.
Producer Denise Robert, known for her successes of recent years (“My life in cinemascope”, “Aurore”, “Sam”) as well as her collaborations with her spouse Denys Arcand (“Les invasions barbares”), the actor and screenwriter Roland Lepage and Chef Jean Soulard also received the insignia of knights.
Journalist Jean-François Lépine and Innu poet Joséphine Bacon earned the distinction of officer.
Their appointment was announced last week after an evaluation process launched in the fall. The Council of the Order then recommends to the Prime Minister the appointments of the year which are formalized by a decree, then handed over in June.
The National Order is the most prestigious recognition awarded by Quebec. Since its founding in 1984, 1,116 personalities have received one of the three ranks of the Order: Knight, Officer and Grand Officer.
