The Honduras soccer team gave their fans a nice gift when they upset Canada 2-1 on Monday in San Pedro Sula in a CONCACAF Nations League A game.
John Herdman’s men ran out of time to tie the game. Cyle Larin spotted Jonathan David in the penalty box in the 86th minute to cut the Honduran lead in half, but it was too little, too late.
Only eight minutes earlier, Kervin Arriaga had scored the insurance goal by completing a play from Edwin Solano just in front of the Canadian net.
None other than CF Montreal striker Romell Quioto served a perfect pass to Kevin Lopez in the penalty area to allow him to open the scoring. His low shot gave Milan Borjan no chance.
Montreal defender Alistair Johnston also received a second yellow card in the 94th minute and will not be available for the next Maple Leaf duel.
