The Acadie-Bathurst Titan promoted head coach Jason Clarke on Tuesday, who will also serve as general manager.

He obtained a two-year mandate to combine the two functions. As CEO, he will replace Sylvain Couturier, who resigned after 20 years at the helm of the club. Clarke landed in New Brunswick after starting the last campaign with the Shawinigan Cataractes as an assistant coach. He was named pilot of the Titan at the end of November.

“I have very big shoes to fill to replace “Sly” Couturier. He left this team in a very good position and it will be my job to continue to move the franchise forward. This community loves its hockey team and, as a team, we must make them proud of how we behave on the ice and off it,” he said in a statement.

Acadie-Bathurst reached the second round of the QMJHL playoffs, finishing the regular season with a 40-22-6 record good for 86 points. Clarke served as owner, general manager and head coach of the Central Canada Hockey League’s Carleton Place Canadiens before moving to the Courteau circuit.
