Fans of “The Island of Love” will be able to find their favorite Islanders in “The Island of Love: One Last Adventure”, a travel show from Evasion that will allow some evicted people to visit a corner of paradise of the Dominican Republic in the company of guide Francisco Randez, a great traveler at heart.
The host was thrilled at the time of the interview, when he was hours away from flying out for the hot Dominican sun. He did not know then who was going to take part in his show. It all depended on the participants who were going to leave the villa in Las Terrenas, where a lot of “drama” was played out in this second season rich in twists and turns on TVA.
“We are going to choose certain people – darlings of the public – with a good traveler profile to make them live one last adventure, when they believe that they are going to the airport to return to Quebec. It’s special, because we don’t know who’s going to come out. I will wait for each candidate in a Jeep when they leave and we will leave, offer them surprises all day long,” explained Francisco Randez, who is also a columnist for “Sucré Salé” this summer.
We will be able to discover breathtaking landscapes, have the mouth water by seeing tasty dishes, learn more about the culture and the Dominicans. There will certainly be merengue, surfing and yoga on the menu, and we will stop at the waterfall of Salto Del Limón, the Botanical Garden of the capital Santo Domingo and Playa Rincón, which is said to be one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world.
Naadei Lyonnais, who hosts the flame ceremonies of “The Island of Love”, and the friendly daily narrator, Mehdi Bousaidan, will also take part in the Evasion travel show. “I’m going to take them for a day of ‘road trip’ to show them corners of the Dominican Republic that they don’t know,” said Francisco Randez.
The host loves doing travel shows because the team has to be flexible, with last-minute adjustments being – almost – as numerous as on “The Island of Love”, precisely. And he gets his hands dirty, because on small film crews, even animators have to carry equipment.
Francisco Randez, who has visited many corners of the world, also refuses to stick the label of dangerous country to the Dominican Republic. He says the danger is everywhere, including in Montreal where gunshots are heard too often, even in residential neighborhoods known to be quiet.
The show “The Island of Love: One Last Adventure” airs on Evasion every Friday at 9 p.m., starting June 3.
