This is what the Canadian organization announced on Monday. In addition to Komisarek, another former National Hockey League (NHL), Mikael Samuelsson, will support the club’s young hopefuls.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin, two emblematic figures of the team, for their part abandoned their role as special advisers to general manager Patrik Allvin to also join the development department, under the supervision of deputy general manager Cammi Granato as well as the general manager of Abbotsford Canucks, Ryan Johnson.

“We are delighted to have solidified our player development department for next season with the addition of Mikael Samuelsson and Mike Komisarek, as well as Daniel and Henrik Sedin,” Allvin said in a statement.

“Cammi Granato and Ryan Johnson conducted extensive research to find individuals with the right attributes, winning histories and who fit the Vancouver Canucks’ overall strategy moving forward.”

Komisarek played 551 NHL games with the Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes. Recognized for his toughness defensively, he totaled 14 goals, 81 points and 679 penalty minutes.

Samuelsson, for his part, wore the colors of the Canucks for just over two seasons, from 2009 to 2011. In his career, he amassed 149 goals and 346 points with six teams.

Another Habs alumnus, Christopher Higgins, retains his role as assistant to the director of player development.
