For the past ten days, the Cannes Film Festival has been in full swing in the south of France with the traditional swarm of stars who amaze, year after year, dressed in unique pieces, haute couture dresses or creations that have just come from be presented on the catwalks of the biggest catwalks. While international actresses and top models had accustomed us to extravagant dresses and endless trains, now the current of this 75th edition oscillates between creations with close-fitting metallic effects that give the look of gladiators, playful touches and the demonstration that simplicity can also propel us among the most beautiful outfits of the celebrations.
The color creations were just as spectacular in their vibrancy as they were in their eccentricity. We note, among others, the Gucci dress which combines red and fuchsia worn by Rebecca Hall, member of the Cannes jury, Jeanne Cadieu’s “kiss” outfit from the Loewe collection and an Isabelle Huppert who adopts another monochrome silhouette here. Balenciaga.
Some creations are ideal for staging extraordinary necklaces. While Sara Sampaio opted for a black chiffon dress by Pinko as a setting for her Messika necklace, Anne Hathaway played on the subtle shine of the white sequins of this Armani Privé two-piece to illuminate an exceptional Bulgari piece.
Like gladiators, many of them slipped into “armor” creations by Louis Vuitton, including Alicia Vikander’s copper outfit, Jennifer Connelly’s crater effect and Léa Seydoux’s latex bodice. Added to this are Eva Longoria’s lamellar dress designed by Cristina Ottaviano, Nadine Leopold’s braided dress designed by Zuhair Murad, Balmain’s cage dress for Cara Delevingne, not to mention Yseult’s trompe-l’oeil silhouette imagined by Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli.
Always so unique, Tilda Swinton drew this mermaid shirt-tuxedo dress from Alaïa, while Lashana Lynch was vestal slipped into this Fendi dress.
