Seven women and three men were murdered in an attack on a hotel and two bars in the central Mexico city of Celaya, authorities said on Tuesday, citing a criminal group.

“Seven women and three men were found dead and two other people injured by bullets,” said a statement from the local Security Secretariat, according to which “several posters alluding to a criminal group” were found on the spot.

Witnesses said a group of about 15 gunmen burst into a hotel at 10 p.m. local time shooting and throwing Molotov cocktails before also attacking at least two nearby bars.

Security forces are at the scene but have yet to issue a statement as to who might be behind the shooting, reports the BBC.

More details will follow.
