The Federation of cinemas of Belgium (FCB) urges the national security Council (NSC) to reconsider Wednesday, the measure imposing the wearing of the mask and mouthpiece for the projection of films. The decision has caused a significant drop in the number of visitors and makes it impossible for a profitable operation of cinemas, alert on Tuesday, the Federation said in a statement.

The measure has caused “a drop in the number of visitors of over 25% last weekend compared to the weekend previous, and 80% compared to the same week-end in 2019,” noted the FCB. If visitors are allowed to remove their mask to eat a snack or a drink during the film, the consumer is nevertheless strongly affected.
