a Spanish court decided Monday not to ratify the decision taken by the catalan government of reconfiner a part of its population. It considers that the measure is “disproportionate” and that such a decision should go to the federal government, and not regional.

The authorities of the Catalan had ordered on Sunday the reconfinement to their home, from midnight, of the inhabitants of Lleida and the seven surrounding communes, due to a sharp increase in the number of cases of Covid-19. The area in question, with more than 200,000 inhabitants, had already been isolated from the rest of Catalonia last Saturday.
