The automotive market, the French decreased 8.4% year over year in June –months, including two working days less than last year– according to figures from the Committee of French manufacturers of automobiles (CCFA) published Monday.

The French manufacturers have done much less well than the market (-11,3%), PSA (with the brands Peugeot, Citroën, DS, and Opel) dropping to 10.9% in June while the group Renault (With Dacia and Alpine) was down 11.7%, according to the CCFA.

Side PSA, Peugeot decline of 14.7%, Citroen at 6.2% and Opel 14.6%, whereas DS increased by 12.6%. Within the Renault group registrations were down 13.1% for the renault brand, and 7.4% for the Romanian subsidiary Dacia.

In total, 230.967 new passenger cars have been put on the roads of France last month, against 252.216 in June 2018. The month had this year only 19 working days compared to 21 last year.

On the first six months of the year, the French market recorded a decline of 1.83%, with 1,166 million new cars registered, of which 58.7 percent went to the French groups (against 58,5 on the same period of 2018).

PSA has a market share of 32.5%

PSA is the first manufacturer on the French market, with a market share of 32.5% for the group over six months (however, 29.6% in June). As for Renault, it keeps to 25.3% of the market (and 28.7% in June).

against the current, the German group, Volkswagen saw registrations of its cars to increase 4.9% in June, driven by Audi (+17,5%), Seat (+12.3%) and Volkswagen (+0,5%). Its market share reached 12.2% over the first six months of the year, and 13.1% in June.

Among the other foreign groups, the registrations of Toyota rose from 6.1% in June, and those of Daimler (Mercedes and Smart) of 7.2%, and those of the Ford by 8%, while BMW, FCA (Fiat) and Nissan were down, respectively, of 24.9%, 18.8% and 38.2 per cent.
