Le FIGARO. – What is your first memory of the EPR?
Lionel TACCOEN. – I had left my activities in the nuclear program at the choice of the EPR, to represent EDF in Brussels during a debate on the regulation of electricity. However, I was at the time very surprised that we give up the progressive improvement of the French reactors for a new project, combining the technical French and technical German reactor Konvoi. The result could only be a machine complex, more difficult to construct.
Why is it more difficult to build?
We choose to build a prototype, instead of taking a path much more secure: the one that the Chinese have taken to refine our reactors Gravelines and, ultimately, to a device more simple, the Hualong One, a rival of the EPR that EDF Energy is preparing to build at Bradwell in Great Britain.
