The great national debate can open doors that the executive dared not even between-yawn. When questioned at the program “Le Grand Jury RTL-Le Figaro-LCI”, the minister of Solidarity and Health, Agnès Buzyn, stated that it would “not be hostile” to the postponement of the retirement age, “as staff”. “I think that, one day, we will be forced to work longer, otherwise, our retirement system will not be able to keep up”, she added.

The minister insisted: this is not the government that has put on the table the idea of a possible postponement of the age of 62, but the French who participated in the great debate, and the president RL of the region Hauts de France, Xavier Bertrand, who propose to defer this terminal to the age of 65. “From the moment the French are suggestive, it is on the table, said the minister. From the moment all of the proposals that are brought by the great debate are going to be studied, we will consider this one as the other.”

“Is it that, while the number of assets decreases, we will be able to maintain on the active weight of the pension which will increase in number and duration ? We know that this balance will be increasingly difficult to keep”

The executive is mainly working for several months on the pension reform in order to harmonize the rules for all the French. But the head of the State Emmanuel Macron has always promised not to touch the settings of the starting age.

However, explained the minister, the ageing of the population is expected to require the retirement later. “I’m a doctor, I see that the duration of life is increasing year by year, has submitted to the hematologist training. Is it that, while the number of assets decreases, we will be able to maintain on the active weight of the pension which will increase in number and duration? We know that this balance will be increasingly difficult to hold.”

the construction of the dependence

The financing of pensions is not the only challenge that France aging will face in the coming decades. With the coming explosion in the number of more than 80 years, “it will be necessary to find the means to fund the addiction,” said Agnes Buzyn. Asked about the proposal of LREM to create a new day of solidarity to cover this new risk, the minister has kicked into touch, saying “wait for the tracks” from consultations with the social partners.

The minister was, however, shown little convinced by the interest of reducing to zero the VAT on the necessities of 5.5 %, one of the main demands of the “yellow vests”. “It is better to help the poorest of the poor than to remove a tax which is also paid by the rich”, she evacuated.
